I am often asked which is better PC or Apple Mac? If I got a penny every time I was asked this I would be a rich man! Lol.
Before I give my views I would like to point out that I have been using PCs since I was a kid and have been an Apple user for over 14 years now.
I have worked as a PC and Apple Mac Engineer for over 9 years...I use both systems daily and have no reason to be biased.
PC Good points:
- Cheap to buy and repair
- Easily available parts and accessories
- Used more commonly in organisations and education
- Can custom build yourself if you have the knowledge and experience
- Lots of free and paid software available for PCs
PC Bad points:
- Windows XP and Windows 7 best Windows operating systems. Other operating systems not as compatible or stable
- Too many security vulnerabilities, viruses, spyware, trojans made to target PCs in general
- Crash and get blue screen of death more often than Macs in my experience
- Generally more bulky and take more room - less attractive than Macs
- Windows needs reinstalling more often than Mac OS
- Separate drivers installation and compatibility problems are common with different hardware and software
Apple Mac Good points:
- The best design and attractive looking computers in the World!
- Easy to use operating system. Easier than windows with a little practice!
- Easy to set up, once you install from a Mac OS disk/s. No need to install separate drivers. All built in to disk.
- Mac OSX is in my opinion more stable and better Operating System than any Microsoft Windows system.
- Extremely slim chance of getting a virus or spyware or trojan on Apple (in over 11 years I have not come across one virus on a Mac!)
- Very stable and secure, fast operating systems with excellent plug and play compatibility
- With an Intel processor Apple Mac computer, install Mac OS and Windows on your computer! You get 2 computers for the price of 1!
- Lots of free and paid software - unlike the myth amongst PC users!
Mac Bad points:
- Almost double in price compared to PCs - you get what you pay for!
- Very expensive parts and servicing. Though must be said break down less often but when they do rather dear!
- Not as easily upgradeable as PCs, not many user serviceable parts
- Apple only provide discounts on computers for staff or students in education. Very rare to put items on sale
Conclusion:
The above comments are just my humble opinion. No one has to agree with me. You are entitled to believe what you like.
My business partner does not agree with me as he likes PCs. He has never used a Mac though!
What is best for you depends on your budget and your needs. If you are just going to type and go on internet then you may not want to splash out on a Mac.
I like using both systems but I know what I prefer. You have all the facts above so make up your own mind :)
